False Prophet? 8 Signs That Expose False Prophecy

Recently, Bishop Alan DiDio sounded an urgent warning about the rise of false prophets and the need for greater discernment in 2025.

As prophetic words flood social media, DiDio cautions that many believers are consuming them as entertainment rather than measuring them against Scripture.

Coming from a traditional Pentecostal background, DiDio was initially skeptical of the modern prophetic movement. “Whenever the prophetic movement was mentioned in our midst, we always had this caricature... People sitting in a room, they’ve got candles lit, and they’re saying ‘Ohm’ and they’ve got their glitter and twirling—goofy stuff.” However, after engaging with it, he discovered that many true prophets uphold strong biblical foundations. Still, he warns of self-proclaimed prophets who lure followers into spiritual dependence rather than pointing them to Christ.

“A sign of a problem in a prophetic ministry is if, rather than being drawn to the Word, you’re drawn to them,” publisher Larry Sparks added. “That’s how you know you’re dealing with either false prophet or a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Sadly, it’s becoming a charismatic expression of the occult.”

Looking ahead to 2025, DiDio says believers must “own the revolution.” He sees this as a pivotal moment where the Church must take action to reclaim lost ground. “We’re not in a season of completed victory,” he warns. “The waters of the Jordan have parted, but now we need to take Jericho. This is a year to occupy, to take back what was stolen.”

One key area of focus is education. DiDio believes God is moving to overturn ungodly systems in schools and universities. “We must pray this year for our educational system. I believe there’s going to be an overturning in the educational system that is going to be revolutionary, could change everything—but we’ve got to get involved.”

Above all, DiDio urges the Church not just to tolerate the move of the Holy Spirit but to celebrate it. “First Thessalonians 5 tells us, ‘Do not quench the Spirit.’ Are we willing to tolerate the moving of the Holy Spirit in your church?” He concludes, “We should take that a step further: we shouldn’t just tolerate Him.”

Alan DiDio

After experiencing a radical spiritual encounter at the age of seventeen, Alan DiDio was born again; instantly transforming him from a dogmatic atheist to a passionate follower of Jesus. Taught in a Word-Based Church he learned early on how to stand in faith. Not long after giving his life to Christ, Pastor Alan went off to Bible College and continued serving with a national ministry for twelve years and working on staff for nearly seven. In that time, he gained experience in every possible area of ministry from running an international prayer center to traveling across the country spreading the Gospel. Since then, he’s founded Encounter Christ Church in his hometown and taken the Gospel to nations such as Pakistan, Haiti, and Guatemala. “I’m a Preacher, a Provocateur, and at times an admitted Contrarian in the midst of a lovers’ quarrel with organized religion. Ultimately I love God, my Family & You.”
