Faith Declarations That Work: Break Through Every Obstacle & Stand See Victory!

Excerpted from Abundant Life 365.

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says (Mark 11:23).

When God created the universe, He used the creative power of His words.

He simply said, “Let there be…” and whatever He said came to be in the physical realm! Then, when He created mankind, He said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26). Then He gave humanity dominion over the earth.

God gave us authority over natural creation, and the way we exercise that authority is through our words—just as He does. In this verse, Jesus reveals that the power of our words is real and active.

He literally tells us we can have whatever we say! If there is a mountain in our way—an obstacle that is keeping us from moving into the good things God has in store for us, we can speak to them and say, “Get outta here!”

However, we must believe in our hearts that what we say will come to pass. If we doubt, or do not have complete confidence in the power and authority we have been given, then our words will not have the power God has intended for them to have.

This is why when we say, “Oh, this is killing me,” we don’t actually die. We don’t truly believe the words we are speaking when we say things like that. This is also why we must be very intentional about the words we speak and teach ourselves to only speak words we truly mean.

In doing so, we can train our hearts and minds to believe the words we speak. As we speak out in faith, we will begin to see the things we say begin to manifest in our physical lives.

The Power of Your Thought Life

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).

Our thoughts have a profound influence on the direction of our lives. What we think about ourselves and our circumstances truly matters because our thoughts shape our reality!

Have you heard the phrase, “You are what you eat?” Well, this verse is saying, “You are what you think!” If you constantly think of yourself as a failure or believe nothing will ever go right, that mindset affect your actions, your attitude, and how you approach life. Your thoughts become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you walk around thinking you're a loser, you'll start acting like one, and pretty soon, you'll start seeing evidence of it all around you. But the good news is, that works in reverse, too!

The Bible calls us to renew our minds. When you begin to shift your thoughts from negativity to hope, from failure to possibility, things start to change. That doesn't mean life instantly becomes perfect, but you’ll start to notice differences in how you handle challenges, how you see yourself, and how you respond to the world around you.

When you think of yourself as someone who can grow, someone who has purpose, and someone loved by God, you’ll find yourself living more in alignment with those truths. Your behavior will begin to follow the path your mind is taking.

So, next time you find yourself stuck in negative thinking, pause and remember that what you think shapes what you experience. Speak life over yourself, believe that God is working in you, and watch how your circumstances begin to reflect the change in your heart! Your thoughts matter more than you know—because how you think in your heart is who you will become.

Keeping Your Attention on Him

While we do not look at the things that are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Corthinians 4:18).

It’s easy to get caught up in what we can see, hear, and feel around us. Pain, lack, stress—they scream for our attention and can seem overwhelming. But the truth is, these things are temporary. They don’t define your reality; they’re just passing through. What you see with your natural eyes isn’t the full picture.

There’s a greater reality, one that goes beyond what you can see or touch. In the spiritual realm, where God’s promises reside, healing, provision, and peace are already yours. When you shift your focus from the chaos around you to the truth of what God says about you, you align yourself with what’s eternal. This isn’t denial—it’s faith. Faith chooses to see what is unseen and calls it into being.

Think of it like this: the spiritual realm isn’t some far-off, mystical place. It’s the ultimate reality. Everything we experience in the physical came from the spiritual first. God spoke, and the world was created. His words shaped the seen from the unseen. That same creative power is available to you through faith. When you speak God’s truth and hold onto His promises, you’re pulling what’s already real in the spiritual realm into the here and now.

So, don’t be discouraged by temporary symptoms or circumstances. They don’t have the final say. Instead, fix your eyes on what’s eternal—on the promises of God. They are more real and more lasting than anything you can experience with your five senses. Stay focused on Him, and watch as the eternal breaks through into your everyday life!

Engaging in Your Faith

Faith takes grit. It’s not passive or automatic—it’s something you engage in, especially when life pushes back. Living in the fullness of what God has promised often

requires spiritual persistence. There are days when doubts creep in, distractions pull your focus, and challenges try to wear you down. But faith isn’t about how you feel—it’s about what you choose to believe and continue standing on.

This kind of faith holds on, even when circumstances don’t line up. It refuses to let go of what God has spoken, no matter how long it takes to see the results. And it’s not just about enduring hardship—it’s about taking hold of the life God intended for you: one filled with purpose, peace, and power. That life isn’t just a far-off hope for eternity—it’s something you begin to experience here and now as you walk with Him.

One key to staying strong in your faith is what you say. Your words matter. When you speak what God says—especially when it’s hard—you’re reinforcing your trust in Him. Confessing truth out loud doesn’t change God, but it changes you. It strengthens your heart and pushes back against fear and doubt.

If you’re feeling worn down, take a breath and refocus. You weren’t meant to fight in your own strength. God’s already equipped you, and He’s walking with you every step of the way. Keep believing. Keep speaking truth. Keep moving forward. What He’s promised is worth holding onto—and He’ll give you what you need to stand strong until you see it come to pass.
