America Unite and Pray This Prayer
Father, we come before You today on behalf of the Body of Christ in the United States of America.
Jesus, help us pray in agreement with You. We pray that the Church would be One, just as You and the Father are One! Forgive us for fostering and allowing division here. Lord, forgive us—we split and split again over petty issues; we insist that other denominations and independent groups do it our way. We have been dogmatic and failed to listen to each other—even ridiculed and attacked one another. Father, we have sinned against You and hindered sinners from receiving the gift of salvation. Forgive us, Father, and revive us again; fill each heart with Your love in the powerful name of Your Son, Jesus. (See John 13:35; 17; Romans 5:5; Psalm 85.) Forgive the church body for tolerating prejudice in the household of faith. Forgive us for segregating ourselves by color, by a measure of wealth, or by intellect. The church located in the US is made up of people from many nations, and we are all Your children, the sheep of Your pasture. You made us and not we ourselves. From every tribe and nation we are one blood, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world. We are baptized into Christ and have put on the family likeness of Christ. We call for an end to division and segregation in Christ’s family— may there be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Thank You, Father, for bringing us together in Christ through His death on the cross. The cross got us to embrace, and that was the end of the hostility. Father, in the name of Jesus we ask You to release an outpouring of Your Spirit upon the American church that will be heard around the world. The people will know that You are God and beside You there is no other. We believe that what You have done in other generations You will do in ours. Revive Your church and bring a spiritual awakening to the nations and let it begin with us. Lord, we believe that what we ask will be done because Jesus promised that whatever we ask for in prayer, if we do not doubt in our hearts but believe that we have received it, it will be. In the name of Jesus, we speak to the mountain of darkness, atheism, prejudice, self-centeredness, hatred, doubt, and unbelief—be taken up and thrown into the sea! We ask this in the name of Jesus that You, Father, may be glorified in the Son. (See Mark 11:22-24; John 14:13-14.)
