My Redeemer Lives! A Prayer for Easter Sunday

Dear Father-God, Hallelujah! I am here to lift my voice in abounding joy! You so loved the world that You gave Your Son for us all so that whoever believes in Him will not face everlasting destruction but everlasting life. I honor You, and especially as we approach Easter Sunday—Resurrection Sunday—my heart overflows with thanksgiving for my Savior Jesus Christ.

Jesus, I know that You are risen from the dead and You are my Lord! I am crucified with You: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but You, the Living Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God. How grateful I am that You loved me and gave Yourself for me.  And now, I fix my eyes on You, the resurrected LORD of heaven and earth. I bow my head in worship when I consider carefully how You faced such intense opposition from sinners. Because of Your death, burial, and resurrection, I will not be worn down and cave in under life’s pressure.

Because of Your great love, I shared in Your death, and I was raised up with You by the glory of the Father that I should now walk in newness of life. I have been planted together in the likeness of Your death, and now I shall be also in the likeness of Your resurrection. I am indeed dead unto sin but alive unto God through You, Jesus Christ, my LORD. For as by a man came death, by a Man has come the resurrection of the dead!

Jesus, You bore my griefs and You were weighted down with my sorrows. You were wounded and bruised for my sin and beaten that I might have peace. And by Your stripes I am healed.

Praise God! Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? My Redeemer lives! I choose to set my mind on things above, where You are seated at the right hand of God. Because You live, I have passed from death to life, and I am celebrating You, Jesus Christ, who has conquered death and the grave once and for all!
