The Price Is Paid in Full!

When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified…And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head…And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him (Matthew 27:24-26, 28-29, 31).

Go back with me to the day they crucified our Lord and Savior.

I want you to see what was done to Him. I know it’s painful to look at, but faith requires a clear picture.

That’s why the Word so graphically portrays Jesus’ betrayal and crucifixion. God knows that as believers we must see all that Jesus bore if we are to fully receive the benefits. We can only believe that we don’t have to pay any penalty for our sin if we see for ourselves that Jesus paid the whole price. He paid it all for you and me!

Our understanding about what really happened to Him that day has been so undeveloped and limited. We have the idea that the nail holes in His hands were just pinpricks, that only a little bit of blood poured out of His side—a few drops here and there.

But I want you to see the event like it really happened!

Even before Jesus was nailed to the cross, His Blood flowed like rivers. In the Garden, His sweat was as it were great drops of Blood flowing from His head as He submitted to the cross for you and me (Luke 22:44). He was flogged with a whip called a cat-of-nine- tails. It struck His back, wrapped around His body, and ripped His flesh off of Him, separating tissue from bone. With every lash, His Blood splattered the room and splashed everyone present including the soldiers. It hit the walls and poured onto the floor.

When His persecutors beat Him with their fists, more Blood poured out. It didn’t just trickle, it flooded from His body.

Think of it! The Blood of Jesus Christ, the Life of God, poured out for you, on your behalf!

When the soldiers pressed the crown of thorns into His head, torrents of scarlet blood ran down His face. The Blood literally gushed from His innocent head. It matted His hair. It ran into His eyes. It streamed from His cheeks onto His chest.

The prophet Isaiah saw this by the Spirit years before the crucifixion and said, “His visage was so marred more than any man” (Isaiah 52:14). In other words, Jesus was so torn and bloody, His countenance was unrecognizable. He hardly looked human! Once He was put on the cross, with massive iron spikes driven through His hands and feet, the fountain of His Blood continued to flow.

A Roman soldier speared Him in the side and the fountain emptied. “But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water” (John 19:34).

Every drop of His Blood and all of His water poured out on the cross and into the ground for you. Once and for all, every drop of His Blood was poured out. The price was paid in full!

Matthew 27:25 says they called for Jesus to be crucified and said, “His Blood be on us and on our children!” But Jesus saw their hearts and knew exactly what to pray for them: “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). Those powerful words of forgiveness provide cleansing, healing, prosperity, and deliverance from the power of the devil for us today! He knew forgiveness was the answer for them as well as for us to grant us freedom from the hand of the devil.

Let’s all say, “Lord we accept and receive your forgiveness right now!”

Isaiah 53:5 says Jesus was beaten, smitten, and “bruised for our iniquities.” That means the generational curses of sin that have plagued you and all mankind have been utterly broken by the shedding of His Blood. The abuse you have suffered and even the mistakes you have made can no longer imprison you.

They are no match for that precious, powerful Blood.

The Blood is greater than drug addiction and more powerful than sexual perversion. The Blood is greater than the effects of rape and greater than rebellion, lies, murder, sickness, disease, and the list goes on. All the pain and sin-enforced patterns of the past lose their power when you thoroughly understand and accept what Jesus did for you.

The price has been paid in full. None of us in our right mind would try to pay for something twice—especially when it cost so much. This is the reason we must remember just how much it cost Jesus to purchase our redemption.

It cost Him every drop of His Life’s Blood.

He poured out His Blood for every one of us. We didn’t earn or deserve it. We can’t do anything now to add to the price He paid. All we can do is receive by faith the benefits His Blood has provided and thank Him for what He did.

On the day of His crucifixion, the Blood of Jesus began speaking and proclaiming. It’ll continue to speak and proclaim forever.

Listen to what it said as it flowed out of His body like a well of living love for you and all humanity:

Father, forgive them.

They just don’t know…

Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.

Mercy instead of vengeance.

Life instead of death.

Blessing instead of cursing.

See the Blood. Hear what the Blood is saying to you and for you. It speaks words of life. The Blood is preaching your freedom!

Prayer and Confession

Father, I realize Jesus was crucified for me. He was beaten for me. He was whipped for me. He was pierced with the crown of thorns for me. His hands, feet, and side were pierced for me. I believe I am free. Jesus paid it all for me, the whole price. There’s nothing left for me to do but accept that free gift and be grateful. I am forgiven. I am cleansed. I am justified, innocent, with no case pending against me. His Blood has made me holy in Your sight.

Proclaim and Decree

I proclaim all the benefits the power of Jesus’ Blood has given me and for my family and loved ones. I speak the Blood. His Blood is speaking for me in Jesus’ Name.
