Hi, this is Billy Epperhart and I'm going to explain in this video, as a Christian, how with God's help, you can build wealth and move down the road to financial freedom. You know, the Bible's very clear. It tells us in Deuteronomy chapter eight in verse 18, and it says, "And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth." Now notice, it doesn't say that God drops wealth on you, or that God just automatically gives you wealth, it says that God gives you the power to get wealth. So as a Christian, and as a believer, it's time for all of us in the body of Christ to wake up and realize that God really does want us to influence the fear of where we function and where we operate, and one of the ways to do that is to be able to learn how to master our finances.
So one of the things that I love to talk about, and we talk about the book here, God's Road To Financial Freedom. Is in the book I talk about the fact that when God gives you the power to get wealth, many Christians ask the question, well, what does that mean? What does wealth really mean? So I'm going to give you a couple of definitions that'll help you here today that's found in the book and one of the things that we teach very, very practical, and I want to say this about the book, the book is as practical as it is spiritual. We give many, many how-to's in the book. So we begin with understanding how we define wealth. So really the first definition for you as a Christian is wealth really begins at the literal point of where what we call passive income from investments actually exceed your expenses.
Now that right now may not mean a whole lot to you, but what it simply means is passive income is income that's coming from investments that you have you say, I don't have any exactly, because most people, the only income they have is called earned income, that's income from their job. So another way to understand it is any income you would receive that's not specifically at a job where you work and you get paid. So in other words, it's having investments that pay you over a period of time. And by the way, those investments if they're done properly, they themselves increase in value in addition to just paying you. And then the second point that we want to make when we talk about wealth, that God gives us the power to get wealth. What is wealth?
Well, for a Christian, it also means financial freedom. And what does financial freedom mean? Financial freedom really means in your life, and I'm looking right at the book when I say this, that it's important to understand, it means to be financially free from all financial worries. So in other words, it's not just having the income from investments that are going up, but it's also in our mind learning to be free from financial worry. In fact, Jesus said it this way in Matthew chapter six in verse 25, he said, "Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear is not life more than food and the body more than clothes. Look at the birds of the air. They do not sew or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them."
And then Jesus really gives the punchline here. When he says, are you not much more valuable than they? Can anyone of you by worrying at a single hour to your life? So the truth is that in the Bible, the Bible is very clear that it warns us against the love of money. In fact, the Bible says in first Timothy, that the love of money is the root of all evil, but here's what we all got to understand, you can be guilty of the love of money, whether you're extremely wealthy or whether you are flat broke. In either case, people can be guilty of the love of money. And some, they have a lot of money, and a lot of, I like to say, if you don't have a dime, so they have a lot of dimes, but over here on the poor side, if you don't even have a dime, the truth is you can be guilty of money. So it's about the attitude that we have toward money and understanding the role that God has called us in as a believer.
And so one of the things as we talk about God gives you the power to get wealth in this book, and really, God's road to financial freedom is understanding not just that you can prosper or even that you should prosper, but the real secret sauce to this is understanding how to prosper. How is it that you should apply yourself in a way that you can prosper in your life regardless of what role you play in life right now? In the places that you are fulfilling God's call for your life or it doesn't matter where you are in any financial condition here, good or bad. What matters is that the Bible says that God will give you the power to get well.
So in this book, as I said, the teaching is as practical on how to prosper as it is spiritual. And so here's the bottom line. The bottom line is this, changing your financial picture is not always easy, but it is simple. And so if you partner with God and put the principles that we talk about in this book and the how-to's, then you can start walking God's road to financial freedom.
