Nephilim Cannibals! Unmasking the Pre-Flood Giants That Terrorized the Ancient World

Today if you were to visit the lower slopes of the Ararat mountains near the border of Iran and eastern Turkiye, you could visibly see what many believe are the ruins of Noah’s Ark protruding from the ground.

I have spent many days on location researching this site for myself, and along with others who have investigated it, I am personally convinced the ship-shaped object is indeed the remains of Noah’s Ark.

When we consider all the cumulative scientific research conducted since 1959 at the Durupinar site in the lower mountains of Ararat, there are growing reasons to believe this mud-encased formation on the slope of Mount Cudi really is Noah’s Ark. Although the massive object has been deteriorating for more than 5,000 years, the remains serve as natural evidence that the Flood of Noah really did take place.

In almost every ancient civilization, there are legends regarding the days preceding this momentous event — retellings of celestial beings that came down to earth and sexually comingled with earthly women, who then gave birth to demigods or giants. Likewise, these same ancient civilizations have stories of monsters, besides the giants, that also roamed the earth in the pre-Flood world. Some allege these creatures were produced when the giants — otherwise known as the Nephilim — began to sexually defile the animals, who then birthed hideous, hybrid creatures referred to, in general, as monsters. Although they had different names in various parts of the world, these creatures were basically the same in their descriptions from culture to culture.

Some try to dismiss these stories of celestial beings, giants, and strange, monstrous creatures as merely mythological nonsense. However, many of the ancient peoples who wrote about these creatures and events were extremely brilliant. They are the authors and originators of mathematics, logic, various sciences, the arts, and architecture. Again, they were not given to wild imaginations, but they wrote about what they really believed existed at some point, either in their current societies or as handed down to them from those in their ancestry.

The Source of The Problem and The Purpose for The Flood

Again, nearly all pagan mythology and pagan religions can be traced to Genesis 6.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose…. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown (Genesis 6:1,2,4).

We’ve seen that the words “sons of God” actually refer to mutinous angels who abandoned their God-assigned posts in order to engage in illicit sexual relations with mortal women. And from those women, giants were born — fierce, mighty men of renown, as we have also seen. Both Peter and Jude wrote convincingly, by the Spirit, about these events, expounding on how God dealt with those rebellious angels.

Thus, the source of the problems in Noah’s day was the mutinous actions of the fallen angels and the actions of the giants they produced through forbidden unions with mortal women. The Bible is clear about what was going on and how God felt about it. Scripture says:

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them (Genesis 6:5-7).

Great wickedness filled the earth, and every thought of people’s hearts was evil continually. This “grieved” God’s heart, which in the original language means God was deeply hurt and vexed inside. It was out of this intense distress of soul that God chose to bring the Flood to cleanse the earth of the infestation of giants, monstrous creatures, and all the wickedness that was rampant at that time among man and beast (see Genesis 6:12).

Through Noah and his family, God enacted a plan to save a sampling both of humanity and of the animals that were genetically pure. Through the Ark, which Noah obediently built with God-instructed precision, God preserved him and his family and the animals on board, and He gave them the grace to start life over again free of these evil contaminants.

Violence and Corruption Plagued The Pre-Flood Population

Genesis 6:11-13 elaborates further, in addition to every thought and imagination of man being evil continually, the all-encompassing problems that plagued humanity.

The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

The word “corrupt” appears in this passage three times, and in each case, it is translated from an original word that depicts something that has been blemished, marred, or ruined. It not only refers to the spiritual rot that was in the world at that time, but also to the blemishing and marring of the human gene pool that was occurring because of fallen angels engaging in sexual relations with earthly women. Through this angelic-human mixture, a pollution of human DNA was taking place, resulting in the birth of a contaminated, twisted race of hybrid giants. Again, some allege a similar kind of genetic contamination was taking place in the animal kingdom as this new race of giants began to violate and defile the animals.

This planet-wide defilement had become so pandemic in the days preceding the Flood that “all flesh had corrupted his way” (see Genesis 6:12). The words “all flesh” show that the inclination of all humanity at that time was to participate in the evil that was taking place. But, importantly, the words “all flesh” can also encompass the animal kingdom (see Genesis 7:15,16; 8:17).

As previously noted, the likely reason people willingly engaged in wickedness was, when the celestial beings descended from the heavens, it looked as if “gods” had come down from another dimension. Consequently, people were mesmerized and enamored by their presence.

Remember, Second Corinthians 11:14 states that Satan has the ability to transform himself into an “angel of light.” What was happening at that early moment in Earth’s history was dark, devious, deceptive, and almost completely successful. As those rebellious angels were entering the physical realm of earth, they outwardly appeared as glorious, celestial beings — angels of light. It seems the people were so dumbfounded by the angels’ godlike presence that they opened their arms to welcome them and even began to worship them. This also seems to be the time when pagan religions of idolatry were birthed.

In addition to corruption, Genesis 6:11 and 13 says that the earth was “filled with violence.” The words “filled with violence” show that the byproduct of the fallen angels intermingling with mortal women and animals was widespread violence. In response to the indescribable wickedness in the earth, God said:

And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die (Genesis 6:17).

If worldwide corruption, violence, and unprecedented perversities really did occur as stated in Scripture and in the authoritative writings I have recounted, are there any other authoritative sources that describe the kind of violence the giants brought to the earth?

The Ban on Blood Consumption Was the First Post-Flood Law Established by God

From Eusebius to Josephus, ancient sources seem to agree that giants were murderous cannibals that not only ate other giants, but also ate human beings and drank human blood. With this in mind, consider the first law God issued after the Flood, which is found in Genesis 9:3 and 4. The following is what God told Noah, his family, and all who would be born after them.

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

Of all the laws God could have issued just after Noah and his family exited the Ark, it is no coincidence God’s first law was a ban on the consumption of blood. Later, this same prohibition was repeated in the Law of Moses, where it is written:

And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood…. (Leviticus 17:10,11).

Without question, the “eating of blood” was one of the atrocities committed by the giants before the Flood — and a contributing factor as to why God brought the Flood upon the earth. God’s command not to eat flesh with blood in it was the equivalent of Him saying, “Rule number one is that you’re not to drink blood. We will not return to the carnage and chaos that has just been destroyed. Now and forever more, leave behind the drinking of blood!”

This blogpost gives a small glimpse into the various types of violence giants brought into the earth. When God saw that the earth was filled with violence through the activities of fallen angels and giants, He decided to cleanse the earth through a flood.

In my book, Fallens Angels, Giants, Monsters & The World Before the Flood, I look closely at a very important declaration God made in the midst of all the mayhem produced by the mutinous angels and the giants. It is found in Genesis 6:3, which says, “And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”

Over the years, there has been much debate and speculation about the meaning of this mysterious verse, but in the pages to come, we will remove the mystery and decipher specifically what the Lord was saying to mankind on the earth in the days of Noah.
