The human soul longs to reach beyond human limitations and experience a superhuman life. Superhuman is an adjective that is defined as “having or showing exceptional ability or powers.” What may come as a shock to many people, including Christians, is that God wants us to live a superhuman life. The problems of our day have to be addressed in a superhuman way.

The renovation of the mind leads to the transformation of the life. The superhuman effects of regeneration in the life of a believer is limited by the extent to which the mind has been renovated. It is simple: If you do not renew your mind, you will not enjoy the superhuman life that God has for you. The word for transform in Romans 12:2 illustrates a beautiful and powerful example. Transform means “to change into another form and to transfigure.” In Romans 12:2, it says we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. The fact that the word is renewing instead of renewed tells us that this is a continual process, not a one-time event. The renewing of the mind is a process that begins at salvation and continues throughout the Christian life.

As Paul said, we have been rescued from the authority of darkness and have been translated into the Kingdom of the Son of His love (see Col. 1:13). Satan and all of the kingdom of darkness cannot make believers do anything, because believers have been delivered from the dominion of darkness and granted their own dominion. The power of dominion that believers have received is far above all the powers and authority of darkness.
